About the Program

A degree built around your career.

The Online Master of Science in Management (OMSM) from Northeastern's D'Amore-McKim School of Business is designed for early-career professionals and career changers who want specialized business knowledge without the time and cost commitment of a traditional MBA.

What sets this program apart is flexibility by design. Rather than moving every student through the same foundational courses, the OMSM lets you choose your core coursework based on what you already know — then specialize through one of five concentrations.

The result: an MS in Management degree from a top-tier business school, finished in 12 months, on a schedule that fits around your career rather than against it.

Why Northeastern Online? Northeastern University sets the standard for quality and rigor. Northeastern Online delivers it — built for real people with real lives. Just the knowledge and skills that matter to get you where you want to go.

Common Questions

Your questions, answered.

Yes. Your diploma will read "Northeastern University, D'Amore-McKim School of Business, Master of Science in Management" and will not indicate "online." The OMSM is a 30-credit, AACSB-accredited degree with the same academic credential as the on-campus program. Graduates participate in university commencement alongside on-campus students.

The OMSM is designed for early-career professionals (typically 1-3 years' experience) seeking specialized expertise in a focused area — 12 months to complete. An MBA is designed for experienced professionals (typically 5-10+ years) seeking broad leadership preparation across all functional areas — typically 2-3 years.

A conferred bachelor's degree from a US regionally accredited institution (or equivalent) in any field — no business background required. No GMAT or GRE required. When applications open, two pathways will be available: the Fast App, which lets you demonstrate readiness through coursework, and the Standard Application, which reviews credentials upfront. Both will lead to the same degree.

Yes. The program is 100% asynchronous with no set class times. Plan for 10-15 hours per week per course. Most students take one to two courses per term, so the program flexes around your work schedule. Optional live sessions and faculty office hours are available throughout the program for deeper engagement and networking.

Total tuition is approximately $24,600 at the standard rate ($820/credit × 30 credits), or as low as $22,970 with automatically applied scholarships depending on admissions pathway. The OMSM is pay-as-you-go — you're only charged for the courses you take each term. Federal financial aid, employer reimbursement, and military benefits may be available.
